"Design is what you do when you don't yet know what you are doing"
This design was created by me in my spare time in our school's library. (I actually had time to do something besides school work for once!)
The reason this quote is interesting to this piece is because this was a spur of the moment design. I did no planning and laid this out as I went along, and it actually ended up even in the end.
To me, my best designs are created with no formal work involved. Unstructured works and fooling around create the best designs for me as the quote suggests.
All was created in Illustrator.
**The background is lighter on this than the original design. I can't get it to upload properly and I don't feel like adjusting it. Sorry, I don't know why it uploads this way. Damn technology **
I really appreciate your kind words! Thank you very much for the comment!
And yes, this was an "undesigned design" :-P. I went in with no intention or plan whatsoever. It's amazing what can happen with a little creative spurt.
great piece. The most probable reason as to why it looks lighter is the colour profile.
On a mac, if it has a colour profile, safari will display it correctly. Firefox doesn't show colour profiles (even though Firefox 3 beta SAYS it does, it doesn't seem to - I tested just a few hours ago)
So if you embed a colour profile, make sure you browse in Safari, and everything should look fine for you.
Apparently windows doesn't have this problem because the gamma is different, which makes midtones darker anyway.
Hope that helps.
Anyway, great design. I'm like that myself. I rarely stick to rough sketches anymore for layouts, and just design spontaneously.

I was blown away by how easily I read this straight through, in the order intended. Great job!
